The 100-Point Scorecard
Competitive entries are graded by an independent jury using a structured score distribution:
| Assessment Area | Weight |
|---|---|
| Significance — The historical or systemic importance of the challenge, opportunity, or community contribution within its context. | 30% |
| Transformation — Demonstrated positive outcomes, systemic shifts, progress, or measurable differences made. | 25% |
| Accountability — The ethical conduct, integrity, clear responsibility, and credibility of the nominee’s work. | 20% |
| Sustainability — The capacity of the initiative to endure, scale up, adapt over time, or create lasting value. | 15% |
| Reach — The depth and breadth of the project's influence relative to its resources and operating environment. | 10% |
The STARS Methodology
The jury relies on five focal questions to evaluate the qualitative impact narrative of each changemaker. Learn more about STARS.
- S — Significance: How critical is the specific problem being addressed?
- T — Transformation: What structural or community change has occurred due to the work?
- A — Accountability: How transparently does the nominee practice integrity and ownership?
- R — Reach: Who has been affected, relative to localized operating challenges and resources?
- S — Sustainability: Can the positive contribution survive, adapt, or build long-term value?
The 8 Stages of Assessment
Every regular competitive nomination passes through a linear, eight-step governance sequence:
- Nomination & Intake: Submissions are officially logged along with their primary archetype, category, and impact stories.
- Eligibility Screening: The Secretariat filters submissions against deadlines, basic rules, and entry conditions.
- Archetype & Category Fit: The entry is aligned to its proper context; misallocated entries can be re-routed to more accurate categories.
- Evidence & STARS Assessment: Claims are audited through the STARS lenses alongside raw metrics and impact data.
- Independent Jury Review: Evaluators score entries privately using the 100-point framework to protect process integrity.
- Verification & Due Diligence: The program cross-checks references, public data, and external reports to prevent false formatting.
- Deliberation & Moderation: The jury gathers collectively to review disparities in scoring and moderate contextual factors.
- Final Determination & Governance: Outcomes are confirmed by the Awarding Board under strict alignment with official bylaws.
What evidence is considered in judging?
Evidence & Integrity Rules
- Supported Claims: Simple popularity, organizational wealth, media exposure, or social follower counts do not establish merit. Submissions must present hard evidence (data, verified reports, beneficiary feedback, or case studies) evaluated for relevance, recency, and clean attribution. View the Judging Process.
- Conflict Safeguards: Jurors must explicitly declare all perceived or direct conflicts of interest, resulting in category recusals where necessary. Sponsors and external corporate entities are legally barred from altering competitive voting outputs.
- People's Choice Track: The public-voted paths function completely separate from the jury track. Public voting structures do not influence the scores of core jury-assessed categories.
